Irish Life Health National Juvenile Championships – Saturday 14th & Sunday 15th July

There were great performances from a strong group of Lucan Harriers athletes last weekend in Tullamore.

Hannah Moriarty started Saturday with a brilliant 2nd in her heat of the U14 75m hurdles which qualified her for the final where she finished 6th.

Eoghan O'Connor and Liam Fitzgerald were next up in the U13 javelin, both competed very well and Eoghan threw a huge PB to place a great 6th.

Tom Bracken was next up competing in the U14 shot putt followed swiftly by the U14 javelin. Tom competed very well in both events and ended up with a big pb in javelin of over 32m which gave him an excellent 8th place finish.

It was then onto the 600m where we had Saoirse Fitzgerald in the U12 girls, Maggie Jez in the U13 girls and Liam Fitzgerald in the U13 boys. All 3 ran really well in highly competitive races with Saoirse storming away in the last 200m to win gold for Lucan Harriers.

Hannah was back in action in the U14 girls high jump at the end of the day and competed brilliantly to finish 4th clearing 1.45m.

On Sunday morning Hannah was in action first in the U14 long jump. Hannah jumped over 5m with her last jump of the competition to win a silver medal.

Kate O'Connell and Sophie Reihill were then in action in the U15 girls long jump and both jumped really well with Kate jumping a new pb.

It was then onto the sprints where both Kate was in action again in the U15 100m. Kate won her heat and qualified for the final where she finished 5th, just missing a medal by a mere 6 hundreths of a second! Chelsea Olumba qualified for the final of the U13 girls 80m where she finished a strong 6th.
