Two Lucan Harrier athletes represented Lucan and Ireland at the European Masters Indoor Championships which were held in Madrid, Spain from 19th to 24th March.
Carol Kearney took part in the 400m and 200m W50 races. In the 400m she ran two personal bests, reached the final and narrowly missed out on the bronze medal finishing in 4th place in a time of 1.06.89.
In the 200m she finished 2nd in her heat with a huge season’s best of 29.48 to move on to the semi-finals.
Annette Durkan took part in the 60m and 200m in the W40 age category. She ran an amazing 8.66 personal best in the first round and just missed out on a place in the semi-final. Two other athletes got to the semi-final with times of 8.66 so it literally came down to thousands of a second!
In the 200m Relays both Annette and Carol were on the Irish teams. The W35 Relay Team, with Annette on the team, finished 6th in their relay final and the W50 Relay Team, with Carol on the team, finished 5th in theirs.
Congratulations to both Annette and Carol on representing Ireland and the Club on the European stage.
