Lucan Harrier juvenile athletes headed to Athlone for the National Indoor Junvenile Championships on Sunday 18th March.
There were really strong performances by all our athletes against the best in Ireland with a bronze medal for Chelsea Olumba in the U13 Girls 60m, 4th and 5th for Hannah Moriarty and Saoirse Fitzgerald in the U14 and U12 Girls High Jump and Kate O'Connell reaching the final of the U15 60m.
U12 High Jump Saoirse Fitzgerald was fifth with a jump of 1.30. She jumped the same height as the second placed athlete but was placed fifth on countback.
U14 High Jump Hannah Moriarty was 4th with a jump of 1.45, again the same height as the second placed athlete but was fourth on countback.
U13 60m Chelsea Olumba made the final and ran a personal best to win the bronze medal.
U14 60m Christvie Lunganga finished third in her heat and narrowly missed out on a place in the final.
U15 60m Kate O’Connell reached her final and ran really well to finish 7th.
U16 60m Millie Reid put in a strong run in her heat.
U18 60m Sarah Carr ran really well in her heat.
U13 Shot Put – Eoghan O’Connor and Liam Fitzgerald competed really well against some very strong competition finishing 11th and 13th respectively.
Lucan Harriers athletes put in some great performances at the National Indoor Masters Championships held in Athlone IT on Saturday 10th March.
On foot of their results Annette Durkan and Carol Kearney will now represent Ireland at the European Indoor Masters Championships which will be held in Madrid. Annette will compete in the 60m, Carol in the 400m and both of them in the 200m and 200m Relays. Their races start 19th March and continue to Saturday 24th March. Best of luck ladies!
60m Annette Durkan won the bronze medal in the W40 60m in a time of 8.72.
200m Carol Kearney won Bronze in the W50 200m in a time of 30.53.
400m Niamh Fitzgerald won Gold in the W40 400m in a time of 1.04.03.
Carol Kearney won Silver in the W50 400m in a time of 1.08.99.
800m Niamh Fitzgerald won the Gold medal in the W40 800m in a time of 2.21.28.
60m Hugh Walsh performed strongly to finish 6th in the M50 60m in a time of 8.23.
200m Hugh Walsh finished 6th in the M50 200m in a time of 27.11
800m Derek Lynch finished 8th in the M40 800m final in a time of 2.15.64.
Colin O’Gara finished 7th in the M50 800m final in a time of 2.32.47.
1,500m Eoin Fitzgerald won the bronze medal in the M45 in a time of 4.36.21.

There were strong performances from Kathleen Trunk in her Indoor Championship debut and Hugh Walsh, Evan Fox, Dylan Wright, Alex O'Brien and Eoghan Shanley. Well done everyone!

Adamstown Community College hosted the now annual 5k/10k race around the new centre of Adamstown and now the Adamstown link road to raise money for its African projects. It was a very bright day but freezing cold and there was a very strong wind as you headed away from Adamstown down the link road but it was really well organised and a very enjoyable morning.
In the 5k Race Patrick O’Donoghue was fourth home in a time of 18.07 with Alex O’Brien just behind in 5th in 19.26. First lady, and 7th overall, was Katie Maher who finished in 20.19. Next across the finish line and tenth overall was Fionnán Uibh Eachach in 21.25 and he was followed by Jim Dwyer in 30.36 and Edel Fogarty in 33.52.
In the 10k Race Pat O’Dywer was 8th overall in a time of 40.47. Tricia Gough was 3rd lady home in 47.16 and she was followed by Jason Barrett in 47.52, Seamus O’Callaghan in 48.42, Evan Fox in 51.14, Sarah O’Donnell in 52.26, Clare Wright in 54.16, Anne Smith in 57.09, Eileen Quirke in 59.18, Marie Collins in 59.32, Anita Hughes in 1.09.11, Fanchea Gibson in 1.12.45 and Josephine Dignam in 1.17.57.
Dublin Masters Cross Country Championships – Sunday 7th January
Lucan Harriers was at the Dublin Masters Cross Country Championships which was held in St. Anne's Park, Raheny on Sunday 7th January. The course was a two lap course for the ladies race run over 3,000m through the wooded area of the park. We had some very strong performances from our 5 Ladies.
Niamh Fitzgerald led the Lucan ladies home finishing 3rd overall, and won the silver medal in the F40 age category in a time of 12.26. Next home for Lucan was Lorraine Heffernan who crossed the finish line in a time of 14.11 earning her 5th place in the F45 age category and she was closely followed by Hilary McGee who finished in 14.14. Next home was Kathleen Trunk in a time of 15.25 and Eileen O'Brien who finished in a time of 18.08 which earned her the bronze medal in her age category.
The Lucan Harriers team of Niamh, Lorraine, Hilary and Kathleen were 9th in the W35 Team Competition.
