Medals in Leinster Indoor Championships, a win at Athy Duathlon, PBs at Ballycotton 10 mile amongst a great weekend's running
Lucan Harriers celebrated some great results over the weekend of 5th & 6th March. In Athlone there were Gold Medals for Niamh Fitzgerald (800m)and Hilary McGee (Shot Putt), Silver Medals for Edith Coakley (60m, 200m and 400m), Eoin Fitzgerald (1,500m) and Carol Kearney (400m) and Bronze Medals for Carol Kearney (60m and 200m). There were also good performances from Eoghan Shanley (200m and 400m) and Fiona Hegarty (200m) in their first Indoor Championships.
At the Athy Duathlon Lucan celebrated as Will Byrne crossed the line in first place in a time of 58.41. Lucan's Gerry Byrne continued his fine recent form coming home in 1.14.11.
At the Ballycotton 10 mile three Lucan athletes, Derek Taylor, Patrick Holden and Colm Carey, put in three Personal Best Performances in this popular road race.
At the Adamstown Community College 5k race, Lucan's Michael Lee was third home with other good performances from Breda Smyth, Bernie Stapleton, Jim Dwyer, Catherine Bligh and Elaine O'Rourke.
7 Lucan athletes took part in Griffeen Valley parkrun and were led home by first overall lady home Frauke Caliebe.
The BHAA Race series moved to Maynooth with the AIB/NUI Maynooth Cross Country. Tom Meade, Jim Dwyer, Bernie Stapleton and Eileen O'Brien flew the flag for Lucan.
Some of Lucan's fit4life group took part in the 12k Laragh Trailrun with nine of them taking part in their first trailrun and two competing over 10k for the first time. It was a beautiful course and well organised event.
