Busy weekend for Lucan athletes

Lucan represented in Italy, Raheny, Grifeen and Mondello

Three Lucan athletes represented Ireland and Lucan with pride at the European Masters Indoor Championships held in Ancona, Italy.  Eoin Fitzgerald, Niamh Fitzgerald and Carol Kearney put in great performances with Eoin narrowly missing a place in the 800m Final, Carol achieving numerous PBs in both the 60m and 200m and Niamh winning a bronze medal in the 800m.

The National Duathlon Championships were held at Mondello in Co. Kildare and Lucan's Will Byrne was 13th overall and first in his age category.  Gerry Byrne also put in a great performance.

At the DCC/BHAA race in St. Anne's Park, Lucan was represented by 8 female athletes in the 2 mile race and were led home by Hilary McGee.  Two Lucan men took part in the 4 mile race with Libor Matousek leading home Tom Meade.

At Griffeen parkrun on 2nd April, Lucan athletes were second overall in both the Men and Ladies runs with Garry Mortimer and Edith Coakley leading the Lucan brigade home.
